Canadian rehab center confirms it's treating Rob Ford Posted: 23 May 2014 02:33 PM PDT (Reuters) - A Canadian rehabilitation facility on Friday said it was treating Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who had largely disappeared from sight after promising to seek help for an alcohol problem. The GreeneStone Clinic Muskoka, located in cottage county some 200 km (125 miles) north of Toronto, issued a statement asking the public and media respect its patients' privacy. Ford, who shot to prominence last year after admitting to smoking crack, buying illegal drugs and driving after drinking, insisted for months he did not have a problem. Earlier this month he told a Toronto newspaper that rehab was "amazing". |

Sterling hands over control of Clippers to wife: reports Posted: 23 May 2014 11:53 AM PDT By Alex Dobuzinskis and Eric Kelsey LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, banned for life from the NBA for taped racist comments, has handed over control of the team to his wife who is negotiating with the NBA to sell the Clippers on her terms, according to media reports on Friday. Under pressure from the NBA to sell the team, Sterling transferred control to his estranged wife, Shelly, and she is negotiating with the NBA, celebrity website TMZ reported, citing unnamed sources. Shelly Sterling's attorney declined to comment, as did a spokesman for the Clippers. |
